Goozex has recently added the Goozex Exchange. Basically, it allows you to purchase items directly from Goozex, using points.

Personally, I like it. I just purchased a year of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine for 300 points. For the veteran goozers out there who may be curious, a purchase on the exchange does not consume a trade credit.

Also available is a year of PC Magazine for 300 points.

Updated Goozolympics Schedule

XBLAMM (Xbox Live Arcade Midnight Madness)

XBLAMM went great tonight. Props to Kevlar51 (our host) and the crew.

We played three games of Carcassonne. Honestly, I didn't have much of an idea what I was doing until more than half way through the second game. By the third game, I was still outclassed, but had a real feel for how the game works. I'll settle for 2nd place to my stellar competition in the 3rd game any day.

Of course, Kevlar51 got disconnected from the 3rd game in the middle of score tallying, so *cough* his win doesn't count *cough*. The avatar that replaced his vision cam image was happy though. *grin*

Speaking of vision cams, one of the guys told us that he got people to group with him by...

Nah, I'm not telling... you'll just have to join us next Wednesday for XBLAMM to find out :)

Forum Badges

I just received two forum badges, woohoo! One is [gozx], for playing online with other Goozers. The other is "Viral Goozer", for starting this blog about my goozex experience.

Here is a list of all of the available forum badges, and their descriptions:

Viral Goozers are an infectious bunch. They like to impress others outside of Goozex with what's going on here. To get this badge you just need to use the Goozex signature on other forums, use the Facebook app, join the Myspace group, write a blog, tag us on Flickr, or whatever else constitutes telling someone else about your affinity towards Goozex outside of Goozex.com. Here are a few examples:
Magiic started the Facebook Goozex Group
Tengaport tagged us on Flicker with some fun pics
Goomba478 uses our signature on the CAG forums
There are a lot of opportunities to get this badge and if you think you deserve it, then send me a PM. Please don't hesitate to ask for this badge!
The mighty Goozex Veteran has produced enough positive trades to last a lifetime, and yet this warrior continues to march forward. These members have seen and done it all, and have the scars to prove it. They probably know their mail carriers by name and can tell you stories of epic trades. Chances are you've dealt with this elite Goozex trader and had a great experience. To earn this badge you must have a feedback score greater than 1,000. That's at least 100 positive game trades!
Like Atlas, builders support our world. Goozex Builders are those that have created something very special to support the community. Real time and effort are put into these projects and that makes it the hardest badge to earn. A couple of examples:
ZachT developed the Goozex Mac Widget found in our toolbox
MrPlate wrote and produced a song for us that we use on our GoozCast
If you've got a project in mind and want to connect with us about it, please do so either here on the forums or PM me about it.
A/V stands for Audio/Visual. The Goozer with this badge has done something very special and created on their own freewill a forever lasting Goozex testament. These are the artists in our community, without the temperment. To earn this badge they have submitted Goozex themed images, videos, songs or podcasts.
The [GOZX] is for those members that seek out other Goozers to play online. This type of member is the proverbial extrovert who bands people together for entertainment. In the zombie world they are good natural leaders that understand the concept of safety in numbers. In the Goozex world they simply want to get their game on with other Goozers. Single player is but a formality for many of these badge members. Be warned, however, that if you accept a game invite from these members you might actually have a good time! Easy way to earn this badge is to use the Invite to Play feature on Goozex.
The eCard Creator is a mythical creature that lives in the land of Photoshop. This person views the world in pixels and gradients. They create wonderful eCards that we post and send out through Goozex. They are witty with their words and double-entendres are common place. If you're an eCard creator then post your creation, otherwise view our current ones here.
In the old days it may have been common to see the deeds of cattle signed with an "X" This was their signature. Ours are slightly more advanced and show your most recent trading activity and gamertags. With V.2.0 we set out to let our members create skins for their signatures. Those that have this badge have done exactly that and created skins for the Goozex signature. If you want to create your own stamp then post your signature skin in the forums, otherwise find the signature page here.
The MEGA Poster crushes everything. The volume of posts they make on the forums can displace oceans. Words like tremble, crumble and awe are often associated with a MEGA Poster. They are friendly by choice. To achieve this badge, you must have at least 1,000 posts. Remember that the journey of a thousand posts begins with one. Good luck!
Those that have this badge are forever digitally preserved in our time capsules known as GoozCasts. They graciously gave us their time to discuss Goozex, gaming, and why things are the way they are. The Beta Tester is crucial to the success of Goozex. They must endure pain on unimaginable levels and test our ideas, apps, widgets and things over and over again until they (not us) get it right. They are our Duke Nukems and they are all out of gum. The mysterious ZannaBianca, forum overlord, scours the forums in search of those with the highest of pain tolerances and invites them to be a Beta Tester. If you'd like to join us in this most horrific experience then send Zanna a PM at your own peril.

Team member is synonymous with a messenger. We take notes on your comments, feedback, suggestions and much more and then give them to a big machine in the back room that makes grumbling noises and shakes quite a bit before spitting out instructions on what to do next.

Xbox Live Arcade Midnight Madness

Every Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.D.T., a group of Goozers gets together to play a game on Xbox Live Arcade for the coveted title of most valuable player (MVP) and the (not-so-coveted) title of least valuable player (LVP). This Wednesday will be my first time and I'm pretty excited. This week's game will be Carcassonne. I downloaded it from Xbox Live tonight and gave the game a spin. I can honestly say that I'll be zero competition to more experienced players.
It should be fun, anyway, and you never know... with a little practice...

As a new Goozer (user of the Goozex system), I am excited to journal my experiences with trading video games on the Goozex website. Also, it is my hope to keep commentary on interesting threads in the forums, and write reviews of games as I play them. Overall, it should be a great time to be had by all.
